Darfield Curate’s Preferment
A Durham Vicarage
The King has approved the appointment of the Rev. Henry Young Necker, curate of Darfield, to the vicarage of St. Peter, Bishop Auckland, formerly held by the Rev. H. T. C.W. Walters.
Mr. Necker has been at Darfield since January last year, when he succeeded the Rev. G. Turner, who was appointed to a Sheffield parish. He is a native of East Dereham, Norfolk, and was educated at Hatfield College, Durham, and Durham University.
In 1910 he went to India and was headmaster of Bishop College Grammar School, Madras, for 17 years. In 1923 he was ordained by the Bishop of Madras, and in addition to his school duties was Diocesan Chaplain.
From 1927-30 he was curate of St. Michael’s, St. Alban’s. His departure from Darfield will be regretted by local church people. His ministry has been appreciated, and he has become known a capable preacher.
