Was In “Quentin”

Former Wombwell Y.M.A. Official

Mrs. Pascoe, of Hough Lane. Wombwell, is anxiously awaiting news of her husband. First Class Stoker Arthur Pascoe (42) who was serving in “Quentin” recently announced as lost in the Mediterranean.

The news states that there were many survivors, and therefore she has good hopes of her husband being safe.

Stoker Pascoe has been in the Navy for 22 years, including service on reserve. He was recalled for

the Naval Review shortly before the outbreak of war, and has been on active service since that time without a break. He had only another month to serve on reserve when he was recalled. For two and a half years he served on the China Station and was at Singapore in another battleship just before the fortress fell to the Japs. While on reserve he worked at Darfield Main Colliery and was a member of the committee of the Darfield Main branch of the Y.M.A. He was also a prominent local footballer.

He is a brother of Mr. John Pascoe who was a member of Wombwell U.D.C. for many years and secretary of the Wombwell Midland League football club. His only daughter, Betty, is a pupil at Barnsley Girls’ High School.
