A celebration of Holy Communion followed a short service with sermon at the Parish Church on Friday morning, conducted by the Rev. H. Sigel.

About 60 people attended.

A large band of ex-Service men and others congregated at the wayside shrine at Middlewood to observe the Silence. A Legionnaire placed a, wreath on the memorial, after which the Last Post and Reveille were sounded by Bugler H. Wolsey
