Splendid Christmas Gift

Driver Ernest Powell of “Bona Vista,” Thurnscoe Lane, Great Houghton, is attached to the Royal Engineers.  He is 38 and has been in North Africa just over a year.

For Christmas his wife, two daughters and young son received some lovely gifts, including a set of beautiful doll’s furniture, a purse, a wallet, and also a parcel of lemons.

He says he has native boys to help him.  He has not run up against any Houghton lads yet but has met a man from Upton.
