Jim Gale, who scored 104 for Darfield against Thorncliffe on Saturday. has the distinction of being the first South Yorkshire League player to make an individual century this season. The honour also went to a Darfield player last turn, when Wilks was the only player to score a century in the league throughout the season. Gale made his runs quickly, his score including 16 boundaries.
He has played for Darfield several seasons, and is a useful bat, a good change bowler. and well known for his smart work in the field. Jim is also a promising goalkeeper. Last season he played for Denaby United, and previously assisted several junior clubs, including Darfield Victoria in the Nelson League.
