Jack Awty, who celebrates his ” coming of age ” in early September, is a mechanic in the R.A.F.

He joined up twelve months ago, and is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Awty, of School Street.

His father served in the Great War. For three years Jack attended Silcoates School, near Wakefield. He then worked in a garage as a motor is mechanic at Doncaster.

He is interested in the life, and feels he is learning something of his own trade.
