Airman Promoted

Sergt. Leslie Stables. R.A.F., son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Stables, of Snape Hill Road, Darfield, has recently been promoted to Sergeant Air-Gunner, and was home on leave last week. He joined the R.A.F. eleven months ago.

He attended Snape Hill Council School and Wombwell Middle School and then worked as a trammer at Dearne Valley Colliery.

Leslie’s younger brother is in the A.T.C. and hopes one day to follow in his brother’s footsteps.

Another brother is in the Home Guard. His leave coincided with that of his cousin. L.A.C. George Neville, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Neville, of the Post Office, Darfield.

During training the south, Mr. Neville was injured in an air raid and has been confined to hospital for a time. Mr. Neville is training as a pilot. Prior to the war he was attached to his father’s chemistry business at Darfield.
