Airman – Wright, George – Commissioned in the R.A.F.

Commissioned in the R.A.F.

Mr. George Wright (25), eldest son of Mr. and Mrs Wright, Barnsley Road, Darfield, and formerly of Pinfold Lane, has been commissioned in the Royal Air Force.

He was educated at Darfield Church School and Wath Grammar School, and Manchester University, where he took his degree in history.

On leaving the University Mr Wright took up ARP duties at Darfield, and later joined the Royal Engineers. Later he was transferred to the Royal Air Force and trained as an observer.

He is a year ago since he joined the Air Force, he has recently returned from South Africa, where he part of his flying training.

On returning to England to learn that he had been commissioned in August as a Pilot Officer Observer. He spent a leave at his home last week.

Mr Wright’s brother, Colin, aged 21, joined the RAF a few months ago, and hopes to become a pilot
