Wilf Copping, a left-half, who was signed by Arsenal from Leeds United in 1934, at a figure of £8,000, was re-signed by Leeds United on Friday at a fee stated to be about £5,000.
Copping, who was born at Middlecliffe, Darfield, signed for Leeds United in 1930, and went straight into the first team. Since leaving Elland Road in June, 1934, he has rendered magnificent service to Arsenal.
In Internationals with the Home Countries, Copping has been “capped” eight times, having played against Scotland, Ireland and Wales in 1934 when with Leeds United; against Ireland in 1935; against Scotland, Wales and Ireland in 1938, and against Wales this season
Copping has played for England in a number of matches against Continental sides, and was a member of the team which gained a fine victory over the Rest of Europe at Highbury last October.
At Leeds he will rejoin Leslie Thompson, ex-schoolboy international, Darfield, who was put on the Leeds professional list a fortnight ago.
