T Roberts 43, G Perrin 45; Dobson 4 wkts                  N Fereday  6-30

Darfield lost five wickets for less than 20 runs in their opening game with Piccadilly but splendid batting by Roberts and Perrin, both of whom passed the 40 mark, enabled them to reach the respectable total of 129.

They proceeded to dismiss their opponents for 70, thus winning by 59 runs.

Dobson secured four of Darfield’s early wickets at very small cost, and his final figures were the very creditable ones of 5 for 25.

Only two Piccadilly players managed to reach double figures and none of the batsmen were comfortable against the bowling of N. Fereday (picture), whose six wickets cost only 30 runs. He bowled with an excellent length throughout and always had the batsmen in difficulties
