Darfield’s First Win In Two Seasons
Darfield 62 for 2 Laisterdyke’s 59.
For their first Yorkshire Council victory in a couple of years Darfield made sure it was no ” fluke:” Indeed, they scored first Yorkshire Council victory in a couple of years one of the most resounding victories in local cricket last week-end replying, with 61 for two to Laisterdyke’s 59.
Although the ‘laurels” go to bowlers Roy Schofield and Alan Beresford, who bowling unchanged quickly sent the visitors packing, and to opening bat Ken Kitching who himself almost wiped Laisterdyke’s score to carry out his bat, it is not stretching it to say that this win was due to team work.
Seven Laisterdyke batsmen were sent back to the pavilion as result of catches, and a particular notable one was Jack Ennis, who fielding on the boundary, did a somersault to hold onto the ball.
