Promotion for Darfield Teacher
A Fine Young Sportsman
Mr Harold Robinson, of Middlecliffe Darfield, has been appointed headmaster of Elmley Castle Church School Worcestershire.
As a scholar in Great Houghton Council school, he obtained a “County Minor” scholarship. After some years at Barnsley Grammar School return to his old School as a student teacher and subsequently entered Leeds Training College.
Afterwards he was for three years at the Park Road Council School, was, was then appointed to the Boys Industrial School, Offerton, Stockport.
In the Dearne Valley Mr Robinson identified himself prominently sport play football for Middlecliffe Rovers, Bolton Primitives, and Darfield Bridge, was vice captain of the Wombwell swimming club, when this team won the Rotherham Water Polo League Championship in 1923.
He has since been a member of the Stockport team, and he also holds the award of Merit of the Royal Life Saving Society.
He takes up his new appointment on April 1st.
