Road Fatality.

Joseph Halpine (11), son of Lily Halpine, widow, 11, Mary Street, Middlecliffe, died in the Barnsley Beckett Hospital yesterday following injuries received the previous night.

The Thurnscoe Company Church Lads” Brigade were marching up Middlecliffe Hill in the direction of Thumscoe and several children were following them.

A motor-car, owned and driven Ernest Gardner, 72, Doncaster Road, Darfield, came down the hill, and deceased, who attempted to cross the road, was struck the headlamp and the front off-side wheel passed over his neck and shoulder. His skull was fractured.
