Birthday Greetings
We add a further greeting to the one which appears this week in our Greetings Column, to Eric Carby, only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Carby of St. Mary’s Road, Darfield, who will be celebrating his coming of age in Italy in early November.
He joined the Royal Engineers about 2½ years ago and was in the Sicilian campaign. He is now with a dock operating company.
Before joining the Forces, he was employed as a driver for Messrs Camplejohn’s.
Never having met anybody abroad who hails from Darfield, Eric naturally looks keenly forward to his “South Yorkshire Times” which is sent to him regularly by his parents.
