Snape Hill Darfield, has been wounded by shrapnel in the face and hands, and is at present at Gosforth Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne.

He and his brother, Private John Fearons enlisted at the outbreak of war, and they are the only two sons of a widowed mother.
