4 – Wesleyan Reform Union annual conference held for first time at Wombwell.

7 – Mr Richard George Baker, second son of Mr George Baker, O.B.E., managing director, Baker and Bessemer Ltd married to Miss Edith Mary Sellers, of Rotherham.

15 – Scheme announced for installation of by-product plant at Manvers Main Collieries, costing nearly £200,000.

18 – 300 Houghton Main Mineworkers given notice owing to bad trade.

21 – Funeral of oldest woman resident of Adwick on Dearne, Mrs Sarah Ann Gray, aged 80

Dearne District Light Railway Committee recommendation, on conditions, of Yorkshire traction Company offer to take over the trams.

3 – Billy Weatherall, Warrington, set up new world record for continuous roller skating (86 hours, 50 minutes) at Olympia, Mexborough.

5 – Conference of local authorities, initiated by Conisbrough Urban Council, to discuss ways and means of providing boots for necessitous children.

30 – The Coroner (Mr W.H. Carlile) issued a warning at a Mexborough inquest on local prevalent illegal operations to procure abortion.

19 – County Council decided to take no action in response to protests from local authorities against administration on means test.

Abdy seam of coal reached by Mr W Gedney and his sons in the pit sunk by them at Hemingfield.

Mexborough Urban Council laid lowest rate since 1919 (7/4 in £).

25 – Conference of local authorities decided in favour of formation of internal drainage for Dove and Dearne.

27 – “Black Diamonds” a coalmining film, made it South Yorkshire debut at Barnsley.

28 – Miss L. Ward, relinquished headship of Conisbrough (Girls) Middle School on leaving to be married.

30 – Church Council of Saint Helens, Thurnscoe, approve exchange livings between the director (Rev. H.G. Wheeler) and Rev. E.D. Hughes, vicar of St Andrews, Litherland, Liverpool.

November

1 – County Council opened Child and maternity welfare centre at Rock House Swinton.

5 – Rev. J.Saint Leger Blakeney, rector of Wombwell, appointed rural Dean of Wath.

10 – Countess of Mexborough opened Mexborough Church bazaar.

13 – Mr and Mrs Dyson, Wombwell, Golden wedding.

23 – Constituent Authorities ratified agreement with Yorkshire Traction Company to abandon Dearne District Light Railway.

December

9 – Reverend L D Pavins, curate in charge at St George’s Church Mexborough appointed priest in charge of Saint Alban’s mission, New Clee.
