Wedding: Bray & Jobling

At Darfield Parish Church on Saturday Mr. Maurice Leward Bray, only son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Bray, Highfield, Darfield, was married to Miss Elizabeth Jobling, Nanny Marr, Darfield. Canon A. E. Sorby officiated. The bride has been on the domestic staff at Darfield Rectory for a number of years.

The bridegroom, who Is an official at the Dearne Valley Colliery, is associated with Darfield Cricket Club as a playing member and a member of the committee. Bride and bridegroom are members of the Darfield Church Bible Cass. Given away by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory crepe de chine, with new Empire waist line, and a richly embroidered tulle veil, with tiara of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of pink carnations and wore a blue and silver brooch, the gift of Mrs. Sorby. Nancy Bray, the little maid of honour, wore a Victorian dress of pale blue crepe de chine and a cream straw hat with pale blue trimmings. She carried a basket of sweet peas. The bridesmaids, Misses Hannah Jobling, Ida Millington. Rhoda Jobling and Annie Willis (Wath) looked charming in their dresses of lilac floral georgette sprigged with pink over pink under-dresses. They also wore pink crinoline picture hats. A feature of the gowns was the smart butterfly shoulder capes. They wore black satin shoes and carried bouquets of sweet peas.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr. G. Jenkinson and Mr. Roy Jobling. Mr. and Mrs. A. Jobling entertained a large number of guests at a reception in the school. Later Mr. and Mrs. M. Bray left for the West coast, the bride travelling in a royal blue crepe suede two-piece suit and black straw hat. Among the presents was a silver tea service from Canon and Mrs. Sorby, a silver and glass butter dish from the Rev. H. Sigel. and a chiming clock from the officials of the Dearne Valley Colliery.
