Barnsley Challenge Cup. (Second Round).
Darfield’s Smart Win.
Worsbrough Bridge 2 Darfield 3
About, 800 people saw an interesting match at Worsbrough on Saturday.
Owing to the Worsbrough field being waterlogged the officials marked out a fresh pitch and that big task was completed just before the match had to start
Darfield played Woolcott and Gibbs in ‘place of Westwood and Wilson, and for. Worsboro’ Green played centre-forward and Shaw outside-left .
The play throughout was clean and fast. The forwards, of whom Green and Shaw were the pick for Worshoro’, and Chivers, Copping and Clegg for Darfield, played some delightful football and excitement wag always keen.
The score stood 2-1. in favour of Darfield at half-time and it was a fair reflex of the game up, to thatpoint. But in the second half Worsbrough were decidedly the better team and were unlucky to be behind at the close.
The scorers were Clegg (2) and Copping for Darfield; and, Sha there w (2) for Wbrsboro.
The “gate” receipts were £8 2s
