Pilot Now.

John Harrison Carr, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Carr, Woodhall Lane, Darfield, has been promoted Sergeant Pilot. He is 21 and since joining the R.A.F. his ambition has been to become a pilot. To celebrate the occasion he was given leave at Whitsuntide. He passed his examination about five weeks ago. He is the first in the district to gain the distinction of becoming a Sergeant Pilot.

He is an old Wathonian and before voluntarily joining the R.A.F., worked in the research department at Parkgate Steel Works laboratories.

He gained a certificate from the Technical College at Barnsley, tenable at Sheffield University.

He now feels he wants to take up flying as a career. His father served in the Great War in France and Germany.
