Darfield  2  Bolton Rovers  1

Barnsley Senior League. In the semi final of the Barnsley Senior League, Darfield beat Bolton Rovers by 2—1, at Oakwell, before 1,100 spectators.

Bolton won the toss, and exchanges were fairly even at the start, but gradually Darfield gained the ascendancy, and following on some good work by their left wing, Marsh hit the cross-bar. After this escape Bolton took play to the other end, but Darfield’s defence remained firm. Maintaining the pressure, Hardwick shot, but Custodian saved.

Five minutes before half-time, after some good play on the right wing, Braithwaite sent in shot which loft Thompson powerless and placed Bolton ahead. Play in the second half lacked incident, both teams finding the wind a troublesome factor. Bolton made ground on the right, and Thompson saved a splendid drive from Unwin. After some hot work in Bolton’s goal-mouth Dodd equalised.

Later Marsh missed a good opportunity of placing Darfield ahead, but made amends later by defeating Jackiin and scoring the winning goal.
