Mr. John Bouskill (88), New Street, Darfield. died in the Sheffield Infirmary on Friday after an unsuccessful operation for appendicitis. Since the death of Daniel Hammerton a few months ago Mr. Bouskill was Darfield’s oldest male resident.
In recent years he was a regular worshipper at the Snape Hill Methodist Church and attended service there Sunday evening. He was formerly employed by the Urban Council and did not “knock off” work till he was 83 two years ago He celebrated his golden wedding anniversary at the house in New Street in which he has resided with his wife for the last 36 years.
Members of the Snape Hill Methodist Chinch were bearers at the funeral at Darfield on Monday, and members of the Bright Hour preceded the cortege and sang the hymn “Jesu’, lover of my soul” at the graveside. Mr. T. Hardman conducted the burial service.
