Wednesday, August 8th, will be historic day in the village life of Darfield, for on that date Lord Lascelles will formally open the Darfield British Legion Club. It is possible, also, that Princess Mary will be present, a warm and pressing invitation having been extended to her.

That Lord Lascelles has consented to officiate has given great satisfaction, and already plans are being discussed for a suitable reception.

Formed twelve months ago, the Darfield Branch of the British Legion is a thriving organisation, and already there are over 300 members. Recently the organisation acquired the Darfield Village Institute, formerly used as a working-men’s club. It is this building that Lord Lascelles has been asked to open
