Darfield St. George 4. Kilnhurst United 0
Darfield St. George’s fielded a good team against Kilnhurst in the Extra Preliminary Round of the English Cup to-day.
There was a good crowd spectator, notwithstanding that rain descending in torrents. Kicking off in the downpour, Darfield quickly took the lead through Martin, and the same player again found the net with terrific shot further in the same half. Darfield added a third goal before the interval, Turton getting home with a fine shot. The Darfield backs continued to force the game, and Kilnhurst’s goal was in danger.
Darfield continued to press the second half, tke Kilnhurst forwards rarely getting within shooting range. After an exciting scramble in the Kunhurst coal-mouth, Sykes broke away and passed to Turton, turn transferred to Marsh, who pushed the ball well home. Kilnhurst made one serious effort to score, but failed.
Darfield were much the better team.
