A feature of the Darfield Urban Council election on Saturday was the return of Mr John Hill, of Col!ege Terrace, Darfield, at his first attempt.

Mr Hill, who is 30 year of age, was nominated by Darfield Labour Party in place of Mr. Alec Clarney, who had to withdraw his nomination a few weeks ago for business reasons. Mr. Hill is a Houghton Main mine worker and served in the Army from 1928 to i 1931. Prior to his enlistment he was interested in the member Labour movement and is a member of the Darfield Labour Party (Individual Section).
