Darfield Woman Dies At 93
The great Lundhill Colliery disaster of 1857 is recalled by the death of Mrs Mary Morris, of Thomas street, Darfield, at the age of 93.
She was the last surviving widow of the Lundhill explosion.
When her first husband was killed he was 22. Her second husband was William Morris, for years a bell-ringer at Darfield Pariah Church.
She had had 17 children and had over 100 direct descendants. She was a native of Tickhill.
