Greetings From Overseas.

Christmas greetings reach us from Pte. James Marsh, of the 2nd Battalion of the K.O.Y.L.I.,whose battalion were moved last month from Maymyo to Mingaladon in India.

He would like to have spent Christmas with some of his old pals in Darfield, but is looking forward to receiving his Christmas copy of the “Times” so that he can see how the local football “Derbies” have resulted. In his regiment are two of the Fietchers from Great Houghton and also Ernest Robinson, another well-known Great Houghton lad.

Marsh worked at Dearne Valley Colliery before he enlisted in 1934.

He was in Spain when war broke out there and his regiment was immediately shipped to Gibraltar. Marsh plays hockey and football for the battalion team. He is anticipating having a royal time this Christmas.
