Headmaster to Administer National Health Act

Honour for Mr A.R.Martin

A signal distinction has been conferred on Mr A.R.Martin, Newlyn, Adwick Road, Mexborough, headmaster of Foulstone modern school Darfield and chairman of the board of management of Mexborough Montagu hospital.

Being nominated by the Sheffield Area committee of the British Hospitals Association, in which body he represents Mexborough hospital, Mr Martin has been invited by the Ministry of Health to sit for three years on the Sheffield Regional Board to administer the new National Health Act, which next year will take over all Public Authority and Voluntary Hospitals and Institutions.

Much preliminary work will have to be done before next April, notably by the Sheffield Regional Board which covers Rutlandshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, the greater part of Derbyshire (excluding the North West and the Manchester area),
