Mr John Harrison

The death occurred on Friday of Mr. John Harrison (85), who resided with Mrs. H. Norton at Parkhill, Darfield.

For several years Mr Harrison has been confined to the house, but was a well-known figure in the district.

Before coming to Darfield nearly thirty years ago, he was licensee of the Vine Tavern, Barnsley, for fifteen years.

During the Great War he acted as Sanitary Inspector at Darfield, while Mr. E. Hammerton was away.

The funeral took place at Darfield on Tuesday, following a service at Darfield Parish Church, conducted by the Rev. H. Drown. Among the mourners were: Mrs Norton, Mr. Cyril Norton, Mr. and Mrs. E. Hill, Mr. and Mrs. F. Wakefield, Mrs C. Norton, Mrs. Davies, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs Hill, Mrs Lister and Mrs. Hy Wilkinson.
