The funeral took place at Darfield on Monday of Mr. Samuel Richardson (58) of Manor Farm, Great Houghton, who died last Thursday. He had been in failing health for several years.
He was a native of Doncaster, and in his youth lived with his parents at Newhall Farm, Darfield. Later he moved to the Great Houghton district and resided at Mount Pleasant Farm for eight years and at Manor Farm for the last seventeen years.
He and his wife were ardent workers at the Chapel-of-Ease, where Mr. Richardson served was Warden for the last twenty years. He was a popular member of the High Street W.M.C.
Many local people attended the funeral. The service was conducted by Canon Sorby, assisted by the Rev. H. Sigel.
