Pit Laid Idle

The Houghton Main Colliery, near Darfield, was laid idle, yesterday, in consequence of an accident the previous night, when run of sixteen full corves broke away in the Melton Fields seam, and were precipitated down a subsidiary shaft, doing considerable damage to the shafting and other machinery.

No one was hurt.
