Miss Annie Mellor, Cemetery Lodge, Highfields, Darfield, a promising young contralto vocalist only eighteen years of age, obtained a first prize in an open contralto class at the Leeds Musical Competition Festival last Saturday, being the only Yorkshire girl to compete.

Recently she was third at the Mexborough Musical Competition Festival, and this year has obtained a first at Goldthorpe, a second at Barnsley, a third at Pontefract, all in contralto solo classes.

She has also won several prizes in duet competitions.
