Proud of His Medal
Sixteen years-old Leslie Stocks, of East Street, Darfield, is very proud of the medal presented to him at Bradford a fortnight ago, when he was first reserve in the International Army Cadets’ soccer match at Park Avenue.
Leslie plays in goal (and he wouldn’t change it for any other on the field!). During the last two seasons he h a s developed into a big lad of 5ft. Sins and weighs about 10 stones.
He is a Corporal in the A.C.C. at Darfield Foulstone Modern School and has played football for several years, assisting his school team and also playing with Dearne Valley schoolboys for three seasons as goalkeeper. He is now playing in goal with Houghton Main Welfare and is working on the surface at the Colliery.
In addition to football he is keenly interested In boxing. He hopes to be lucky enough to be chosen for the A.C.C. International Football trials to be held next month.
