John H. Barraclough, of Edward Street, Darfield, is in the Royal Navy, which he joined eight months ago. He finds the life healthy and congenial, and has made several pals. He has had one trip over to Ireland, but is now back.

Formerly he worked for many years in the grocery department of the Edward Street branch of the Barnsley Cooperative Society, and is consequently well known throughout the district.

He was a member of Darfield Dramatic Club, and has acted in their productions; in fact, he had to forfeit a part in a new play when he Joined up.

He was on leave in August, and looked extremely well.
