Sergeant D Baxter, formerly sexton at Dafield, is reported to have gained the Military Medal for bravery in the field during June and July.

Sergeant Baxter is about 50 years of age and in September 1915 he left a wife and a very lage family to join the forces.
Two of his sons enlisted at the commencement of the war, and both have been wounded.

Sergeant Baxter is expected home very shortly. He is the second Darfield man whose bravery has been officially recognised.
