Councillor G. H. Hirst, Church Street, Darfield, prospective Labour candidate for the Wentworth Division, has received official notification of the death of his son, Pte. Wilfred Hirst (West Yorks), from wounds whilst a prisoner in the hands of the ‘Germans.

He was missing on March 21, and subsequently reported to be a prisoner. Now the sad intimation has been received that he died in hospital on April 2.

Mr. Hirst has another son serving the Navy, and a daughter who is a V.A.D. nurse.
