Darfielder Enjoying Life ‘

In our picture gallery of local lads with His Majesty’s Forces this week, we give a portrait of Private Clifford Nicholls, son of Mrs. Nicholls and the late Mr. Nicholls, of West Street, Darfield.

As stated in our last issue Private Nicholls, who stands only just over five feet in height, is claimed to be one of the smallest serving soldiers.

He is full of pluck, energy, and spirit all the same, and makes up in determination what he lacks in inches.

Our notes concerning him indicated that he was “somewhere in England,” enjoying the food which helps to make the life of the British “Tommy” very far from being unenviable.
