The Darfield Parish Church choir has been seriously affected by enlistments. Sapper Fred Stanley (R.E.) was the principal bass for about 10 years. He is now in France and had not been there long before he was requisitioned for a concert.

Sapper Doctor Baxter is an old member of the choir. He has been at the front about 8 months, and is well over the age limit, having two sons serving.

Seaman Henry Higgins was principal treble for some years.

Private Frank Batty, R.A.M.C. has been with the colours about 10 months. He is a bass singer.

Private Fred Thorpe joined the Ambulance Corps at the commencement of the war. He is also a bass.
