South Yorkshire Collieries and the Hull Coal Trade.

The return showing the quantity of coals sent to Hull from the local collieries has just been issued. During July there were taken to Hull 183,864 tons, as against 210,208 tons during the same month in the previous year, thus showing a falling off of 26,344 tons.

From January to July of this year the imports amounted to 923,240 tons. When compared with the corresponding period of last year these figures show the alarming reduction of nearly 400,000 tons, the imports then amounting to 1,306,920 tons.

Denaby Main, as usual, heads the list, 17,528 tons having been sent from that colliery. This is an increase of 3,000 tons on the figures of the corresponding month in 1892, although for the seven months there is a decrease.

Manvers Main comes second with 13,834 tons. Coastwise there were exported 12,522 tons, London taking 9,225 tons.

Exports generally total to 76,053 tons, as against 105,721 during July 1892. The total for the seven months is 311,331 tons, compared with 460,103 tons for the same period of 1892, in both instances there being a falling off.

The largest amount went to Sweden and Norway, 30,785 tons, North Russia coming next with 21,410 tons. In each case these figures are lower than last year.
