Sunday Gaming

Joseph Story, trammer, George Taylor and John Oldfield, pit lads, all of Great Houghton, and John Brewster, pit lad, Darfield, were summoned for playing pitch and toss at Billingley on Sunday afternoon, the 30th ult.

Defendants, who were represented by Mr John I Moulton pleaded not guilty.

Evidence was given by PC Barnes and Sgt Playfoot (who overtook the lads on a bicycle).

Story had 10 shillings and cost to pay and the rest 15 shillings and cost each.
