The marriage took place at Great Houghton Methodist Chapel on Thursday of Miss Edna Andrews, daughter of Mrs. Thomas Andrews and the late Mr.’Tnomas Andrews, of 4, Pleasant Avenue, Great Houghton, and Mr. Geoffrey Wainwright, M.A., of the Royal Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Wainwright of Victoria Street. Darfield.

The bride was a member of Darfield Dramatic Club, and of the teaching staff of Great Houghton Council Infants’ School. The bridegroom took his degree at a Scottish University, and is a schoolmaster in the Royal Navy.

The service, conducted by the Rev. R. L. Wildridge, was choral, and special hymns were sung. Given away by her brother. Mr. Alvin Andrews, the bride wore a charming gown of cream Chantilly, lace over crepe-de-Chine, with long train. Her long embroidered net veil was attached to a cluster of camellias and she carried pink carnations.

She was attended by Miss Hazel Andrews (sister) and Miss Eileen Walker, who wore white lace dresses over crepe-de- Chine with anemone shaded velvet ribbon sashes and head-dresses of anemones. They carried silver horse shoes and wore gold signet rings, gifts of the bridegroom. The younger maids were Cynthia Powell and Maureen Andrews. who wore long gowns of white spotted net over crepe-de-Chine and anemone shaded velvet ribbon sashes. They wore silver head-dresses and silver shoes and carried silver horse shoes. They also wore silver identity bangles, gifts of the bridegroom.

Mr. Geoffrey Holloway was best man. and Messrs. George Andrews and Raymond Andrews. the latter of the A.E.C., groomsmen. Mrs. Andrews wore a maroon dress with velvet trimmings, a matching hat, and a spray of pink carnations. The bride’s mother wore a fur coat and brown felt hat, and a spray of pink carnations in her coat. A reception was held at the Welfare Hall. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Wainwright left for the Isle of Man. the bride travelling in a coat of blue boucle and a navy felt hat with mauve and blue trimmings. The bridegroom presented the bride with a writing desk and the bride presented the bridegroom with a set of engraved silver-backed hair brushes.
