Darfield. Machin-Brown

At Darfield Parish Church on Saturday. Miss Hilda Lewis Brown, eldest daughter of Hr. and Mrs W. Brown, of Edward Street, Darfield, was married to Mr. Ernest Miles Machin, second son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Machin, of Dearne Villas, Great Houghton.

Canon Sorby officiated

Given away by her father, the bride wore a long white satin beaute gown, with yoke and cuffs embroidered in diamante. She also wore a matching coatee, and long embroidered net veil and wreath of orange blossom. She carried lilies and wore pearls, the gifts of the bridegroom.

Her sister Miss M. Brown, chief bridesmaid wore a daffodil coloured angel-skin gown, with scalloped epaulet sleeves, and frills round the hips. With it she wore a black velour Robin Hood hat with a small yellow feather. Her necklet of yellow and crystal beads and bouquet of bronze chrysanthemum were gifts from the bridegroom.

Little Margaret Brown and Nesta Bailey (Retford), were also in attendance. They wore long salmon pink crepe de chine picture frocks, with lace trimmings and rucher caps of crepe de chine and lace. Both carried Victorian posies of pink and white carnations.

Mr. J. Jones was best man, and Mr. C. Machin acted as groomsman. Mr. and Mrs. Brown entertained upwards of 60 guests is Darfield Wesleyan School.
