Mr. H. Gaskell (Darfield) and Miss Y. Wistow (Low Valley).

Last Thursday at Darfield Parish Church the marriage took place of Miss Kathleen Wistow, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Wistow, well-known newsagents of Low Valley, and Mr. Harold Gaskell, who is in the Army, and is son of Mrs. Gaskell and the late Mr. R. Gaskell, of Owram’s buildings, Darfield.

The Rev. H. Drown officiated.

Given away by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory satin beaute with diamante and pearl trimmings. Her long embroidered net veil formed a short train, and was attached to a halo of orange blossoms. She carried pink roses, and was attended by her sister, Miss Ruby Wistow, and Miss E. Bingley (Hemsworth). Both wore dresses of turquoise blue silk taffeta with coloured motifs embroidered on the corsage, and white straw Dresden hats with floral crowns. They wore sprays of pink roses.

Mr. Tom Gaskell was best man and Mr. Jack Wistow groomsman.

The bride’s mother wore a black silk marocain dress with black lace coatee and black picture hat. Mrs. Gaskell wore a navy blue silk cloque dress and a black hat. Both wore sprays of roses. At the church door the bride’s nephew, Peter Wistow , presented her with a silver horseshoe. About seventy guests were entertained by the bride’s parents at Low Valley Mission Schoolroom.
