Won Silver Medal

Albert Adams (17) youngest son of Mr and Mrs W Adams of Railway Cottages, Darfield, last weekend learned that he had won the silver medal of the Royal Society of Arts in Commerce. (Intermediate Class).

He was the only one of about 300 entrants In England and Wales to gain this honour. Before this Albert had won a first class Northern University Certificate in commercial subjects, and a second class certificate for the group course examination of the R.S.A. In addition he has a first class certificate from Barnsley Technical College for all the ten subjects which he studied there.

Winning a County Minor Scholarship from Darfield Church School, he went to Wath Grammar School, where he took School Certificate before proceeding to Barnsley Technical College. He has now got a Civil Service appointment in Wombwell G.P.O.

In spite of these scholastic successes, Albert has taken an active part In social affairs. He played rugby for With Grammar School, and table tennis for Barnsley Technical College. He is also actively associated with Broomhill Methodist Chapel, where in addition to being assistant- secretary, he is a Sunday School teacher.
