Maurice Bardsley, of Coronation Street, Darfield, at the age of 13 has just realised an ambition he has “nursed” for over two years that of gaining a first place at a musical festival.

He did this at Armthorpe Festival recently, when he was first in the under sixteen treble solo class for boys, the test piece being `The Organ Man.” Maurice had previously won several certificates, including a first at Mexborough Festival recently, and a second at Pontefract.

He is always pleased to give assistance at charitable musical evenings. Maurice is a scholar at Darfield Church School and a member of Barnsley Road Wesley Chapel.

His father, Mr. Herbert Bardsley, has been keenly interested in singinq for many years and is a member of Barnsley Road Wesley Choir.
